MLŽI – "Misty-People" is a project by vocalist pianist Milica Hadžić (RS/BE) and drummer Peter Balhar (CZ/DK). The duo focuses on generating rawness and discomfort through pushing the limits of acoustic performance.

In december 2024 they released their debut album STOP SCARING THE CUSTOMERS with Klankhaven Records (BE). On the album MLŽI address themes of capitalism, feminism, and subvert expectations around music genres.

Milica and Peter met in Prague in 2022 and embarked on various collaborations and artistic phases, initially starting as a trio with Czech-Brazilian bass player Luan Gonçalves. Together, they developed a concept that avoided harmonic instruments taking up space, creating minimalist arrangements of jazz standards fused with Serbian folk.

Eventually, they wanted to take the focus on textures and rhythm in a spacious environment even further, evolving the project into a free-improv duo. They fully embrace the possibilities of both radical mildness and aggressive assertiveness. Their musical blend expanded to incorporate elements of noise, post-punk, hyper-pop, alongside the original jazz and Serbian folk influences.

Milica and Peter function and experience the music as one entity. Both lean into each other’s reflexes, triggering and provoking each other while on stage.
