The European Music Collective (EMC) is a union of musicians from all around Europe and beyond, which constantly seeks out brand new and exciting international collaborations. The collective exclusively focuses on improvised and contemporary music. In this concert they present works by Mario Calzada and E=ᵐᶜ*V_ⁿᵒᵉˡ.

Inspired by French poet Paul Éluard and his poem Liberté, EMC offers to introduce us to a personal coming of age story in a piece by Calzada called the Democratic Orchestra. Through gestures of connection, their musical performance aims to bind personal narrative and collective memory. All is anchored by a simple yet powerful phrase from the poem: “In every hand that reaches out, I write your name.”

EMC Collective consists of: Ghazal Faghihi, Francesca Fantini, Ondrej Zintaer, Selendis Sebastian, Alexander Johnson, Milana Sarukhanyan, Darja Goldberg, Ben Finlay, Christoph Götzen, Arto Van Roey, Ethan Blackburn, Ipek Eginli, Anton Lambert and Mario Calzada.
