You can compare the Tilburg trio Drone Assembly as much to a scientific expedition as to a musical project. Over an impressive assortment of instruments and equipment, the members fuse together to form a living organism. Synthesizers, loop stations and effects pedals are combined with vocals, acoustic percussion and other small instruments. Every Drone Assembly performance is a completely unique sensory experience. 
Heerlen's city composer is part of this extraordinary collective.




In the five years since the founding of the Drone Assembly project, the band has performed in all sorts of unusual settings. And in doing so, they defy conventional hierarchies between performer and listener. For example, they once gave a show in a plant greenhouse and performed at the Hall of Fame, in front of a reclining audience. In 2024, the album “Drone Assemlby” was released by Burning World and Conflux Records, this record was presented at Roadburn festival. Each show stems from a foundation of improvisation, and yet Drone Assembly deploys the impressive sounds and textures at their disposal with care and conviction. The result is music that moves with the emotional beat of the moment, ranging from soft, gentle passages and hypnotic tunes to resonant walls of sound.
