J. Warren will present a curated selection of her favorites from this year of creativity. In her artistic research she delves into the story of Saint Servatius. She explores this 12th century legend taking place during the Roman era while investigating the Gregorian chants from the high middle ages around the cult of this Armenian saint. These stories take place on limestone hills originally from the ancient tropical sea of which the Mosasaurus was an inhabitant 66 million years ago! Drawing from her research and interviews with paleontologists and theologists, Julia and her collective 3S-AMI-5A created a film where the impact of Cretaceous era, Roman era, and Medieval eras all held in one vessel. After showing this film with a live musical accompaniment, Julia will also present the opportunity to listen to her latest self-produced album, a culmination of 3S-AMI-5A’s adventures through sound and space from the previous year, which features musicians from here, there, and everywhere.
Sachit Ajmani in turn presents REMOTE POSTING: a music theatre piece set in the far future, where normal people go to space as astroworkers and perform jobs that are mundane but profitable. Kim, played by Jeske de Haart, once took on a long, isolated space posting. With only spaceship noises and the AI of the ship computer as company, she experienced a loneliness both profound and unique — yet one also faced by oil riggers of today or by lighthouse-keepers of the past. Perhaps isolation changes less than we think across generations and vast expanses of space. The performers ask their audience: how much do time and technological advancement really change us? Performed by Jeske de Haart (as KIM), Colin Crandal (as SHIP; djembe), Nader Adabnejad (as FARHAD; **violin, electronics) and Sachit Ajmani (piano, electronics).
