The playback of a pre-recorded audio composition with live illustrative performance.
Location choice: Underground. My first ‘experience’ of Maastricht was as an airman in the Royal Air Force serving for 2½ years in the N.A.T.O. complex under the Cannerberg. Between mole and troglodyte.
Motivation: I am a convinced Darwinian. As this work deals humorously with the evolution of this specific location it seemed logical that the work should be played in an underground location.
The work features: dinosaurs by the sea, the extinction event, the domination of mammals, beaker people (earliest ceramics in Maastricht), ‘the Romans are coming!’, the coming of religion, carnival, the war torn region, the coming of industry, where can I park my bike?, and Europa mon amour.
